Before the Project
Hello, my name is Audreana Gallegos and I have decided to go a week without Facebook. I am currently a Freshman at Oakland University and have had a Facebook for at least five years. Although it allows me to keep in touch with family and friends that have moved far away, it also can get in the way when I study. I often use Facebook as a distraction when I study, so I can do less work. Not only do I use Facebook when I study, but I also find myself using it often in Physics class so I do not have to pay attention. This experiment will help me realize how much time I waste distracting myself. At the end of the experiment I will see if more work gets done without Facebook, or if I spend that time doing something else. This experiment is very straight forward, from 8:00 am March 22nd to 8:00 pm March 29th. At the end of the night I will write on how it has effected my day. I believe that I will be more productive during class and when I study, but I also believe it will cause an increase in other activities.

I really think your idea is a great one, but I honestly think your prediction of what will happen is wrong. I really like the idea of going without a social networking site like facebook because its something most of us do on a daily basis now and don't even give it a second thought. When were bored, lonely, or even just have a minute or two to kill, without hesitation or thought we reach for our phones to check facebook. My one issue is that in my opinion, I know if I gave up facebook, that I would find ever more clever ways to distract myself in class. I really think I would just waste my time in a different way.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a pretty good experiment. I was also thinking about doing this but knew I wouldn't be able to succeed. I always find myself on Facebook instead of studying for doing something productive with my time too. I think this will be an interesting project and am curious of the outcome. If I did this experiment I think I would be happy with the results but I just don't think I would give it up forever. I'm excited to see what you learned. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good experiment to do. I was thinking about doing something similar for this project but I'm to addicted to social media. I can't wait to see the outcome for your project and I hope you learn something from this.
